The first of a proposed three game friendly game series between Tema Basketball League rivals Nungua Coldstore and Spintex Knights did not go down well for Coldstore.
The three time Tema League Champions got trounced 68-48 with the game taking place at the Fridays Bar and Restaurant Court in Sakumono, Accra.
The contest had been under serious consideration ahead of the commencement of the Tema League in the wake of major player recruitment moves by Knights.
Acquiring the signatures of top reigning League MVP Joel Tham-who moved from Coldstore after the win, highly rated rebounding Center Mubarak Alhassan and Guard Gustav Asiedu-Addo resulted in a 20 point win for Knights.
Two more games are to be played between the teams in the coming weeks; the heavy defeat is set to draw more attention to the results of the upcoming games.
The teams faced off in the 2019 League Finals Series that ended in a Coldstore win; it was Coldstore’s second title win in a row and Knights debut season in the Tema League.
