Basketballghana.com can confirm Utah State University Center Neemias Queta has declared he will forgo his final season and turn professional; he has since made himself eligible for the 2021 NBA Draft.
The 7 foot Center is one of the main rivals of Ghana Center Nathan Mensah who plays for San Diego State University in the Mountain West Conference.
Both players were named in the 2020-2021 Mountain West Conference All Defensive Team but Portugal international Quetas beat Mensah to the Conference Defensive Player of the Year Award.
San Diego State won the Conference title game 68-57 with Mensah limiting Quetas to six rebounds and three blocks while the 6 foot 10 inch Ghanaian registered eight rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
Quetas scored 18 points in 33 minutes while Mensah scored 10 points in 24 minutes and helped San Diego to progress to the national tournament.
With the Portuguese (averaged 14.9 points, 10 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game in the 2020-2021 season) set to join the professional ranks, Mensah is in line to have a big campaign next season.
Mensah is heading to his final year at San Diego State and is sure to be a veteran leader on the team with Matt Mitchell and Jordan Schakel graduating.
