Basketballghana.com understands two seniors at San Diego State University’s Men’s Basketball Team are graduating from the program later this year.

Small Forwards Matt Mitchell and Jordan Schakel are leaving the program after spending all four years with the reigning Mountain West Conference Champions.

This means Ghana Center Nathan Mensah who completed his third year with The Aztecs is in line to play a major leadership role in his final year.

Mensah, Schakel and Mitchell were part of the San Diego State team that lost in the first round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament first round to Syracuse University. Baylor University won the national title this past weekend ahead of Gonzaga University.

Schakel averaged 14.4 points per game in his final season at San Diego State and has already declared he will turn to the professional once he graduates. He also averaged 4.4 rebounds and a steal.

Mitchell averaged 15.4 points in his final season and was named Mountain West Player of the Year in the 2020-2021 season; he averaged five rebounds and two assists this season.

Mitchell and Schakel stand 6 foot 6 inches.
