A meeting dubbed the Ghana Basketball Conference plans on addressing major ills in basketball in Ghana according to reports reaching Basketballghana.com
The RITE Sports Limited initiative is to roll out the program on a yet to be determined confirmed date in collaboration with the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA).
A handful of basketball stakeholders are expected to participate in the conference that seeks to brainstorm ideas to take the sport to the next phase of development.
This comes on the back of the West African nation’s failure to qualify to the 2021 African Nations Basketball Championship (AfroBasket); Ghana failed to compete in the pre-qualifiers due to lack of funds.
Getting Ghana to compete in international competitions such as the AfroBasket and Olympic Games are set to be discussed just as the road to recovery for various internal competitions post COVID.
League competitions in Accra and Tema have been stalled for over a year due to a ban on all contact sports due to the onset of the corona virus pandemic. However, restrictions have eased slightly as the number of infections drop.
