Basketballghana.com can confirm Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) President Ahmadu Musa Kida has been named the Most Valuable Personality at the Sports Legendary Awards.
The recognition comes on the back of a wonderful run of positive results for the West African nation that has placed Nigeria on the brink of becoming the most dominant force in basketball on the continent.
Since assuming office as President of the Federation in June 2017, Kida has since built on the legacy of the 2015 FIBA African Nations Basketball Championship (AfroBasket) and two appearances at the Olympics.
Nigeria won silver at the 2017 AfroBasket, made it to the 2019 World Cup and booked its place at this year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.
In the Women’s Division, Nigeria is the defending AfroBasket Champion and became the first African country to reach the quarterfinals of the Women’s World Cup in 2018.
Nigeria’s Women’s Team-D’Tigress-has also qualified to compete at the Tokyo Olympics; Kida secured a five year sponsorship deal with petroleum giant TOTAL for the Men’s Basketball Division 1 and 2 Leagues.
