Ghana Center Nathan Mensah made his debut in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men’s Basketball Tournament on Saturday, March 20 and was solid in his opening outing for San Diego State University.

San Diego lost 62-78 to Syracuse University in the opening round of 2020-2021 National competition dubbed “March Madness” with Mensah registering five points, five rebounds, a block and a steal in 23 minutes as a starter.

Syracuse’s zone defense frustrated San Diego with Matt Mitchell and Jordan Schakel leading the latter with 17 apiece. However, Buddy Boeheim scored a game high 30 points converting seven of 10 attempts from three point range.

In his third season with the Aztecs, Mensah anchored the fourth ranked best defense in the NCAA and is likely to play a bigger role next season as six players look set to graduate from the program.
