Ghana Center Nathan Mensah is in line to make his debut in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament as San Diego State University takes on Syracuse University in the opening round.
Mensah was instrumental in San Diego’s triumph in the Mountain West Conference to progress to the Tournament dubbed “March Madness”.
The games tips off at 1:40 GMT with San Diego heading into the contest as the sixth seed and Syracuse ranked as the 11th seed. The winning team progresses to play against the winner of the Morehead State University-West Virginia University contest in the second round.
Third year Center Mensah is likely to feature in his NCAA Tournament game after San Diego missed out in the 2018-2019 season with Utah State University representing the Mountain West Conference.
Last season, San Diego topped the Conference but the onset of the corona virus pandemic led to the cancellation of the NCAA Tournament.
Mensah is set to be the latest Ghanaian to feature in the NCAA tournament after Amida Brimah won the national competition in 2014 with University of Connecticut and Ben Bentil starred for Providence College in 2016.
