Basketballghana.com can confirm a pair of prominent personalities heavily involved in RITE Sports related events has been elected to the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) following recently held elections.
University of Ghana Director of Sports Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu and Michael Know Ayeh of the Ghana Education Service were elected to the Committee earlier this week.
Dr. Bello beat Samuel Ayer of Ghana’s Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) 36 to 27 votes to become an elected member from a National Federation affiliated to the GOC. Dr. Bello won the poll asa representative of the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA).
Michael Ayeh on the other hand, was elected by GOC’s Elective Congress with two other representatives including Emmanuel O. Asare from the Ghana Cricket Association.
Ayeh and Dr. Bello have extensive experience working with RITE Sports events Sprite Ball Championship and Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship respectively.
Under Dr. Bello’s leadership, University of Ghana has won the UPAC title four times in a row and two gold medals at the All Africa University Games.
Ben Nunoo-Mensah was retained as GOC President.
