Basketballghana.com can report San Diego State University Men’s Basketball Team will play Syracuse University in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Ghana Center Nathan Mensah is a starter for San Diego in his third season.
The fixture was confirmed following a draw conducted on Sunday, March 14 with all games set to be played in Indianapolis rather than a spread format due to the corona virus pandemic.
San Diego takes on Syracuse on Friday, March 19 as the sixth seed on the back of clinching the Mountain West Conference title in the post season and clinching the Conference’s number one seed in the regular season.
Syracuse is the 11th seeded team in the NCAA Tournament and a win for either team takes them to the next round to play the winner of the West Virginia University and Morehead State University.
West Virginia is the third seed while Morehead is the 14th seed in the Tournament. San Diego beat Utah State University 68-57 to win the Mountain West Conference title.
Mensah registered 10 points, two blocks, eight rebounds and a steal in 24 minutes in the win.
