Basketballghana.com can confirm Ghana Center Nathan Mensah has been named in the Mountain West Conference Basketball Defensive Team of the Year.
Following the conclusion of the regular season, the standout performers in the Conference were honoured for their performances throughout the season.
Mensah made the Defensive Team in a season where he blocked 1.4 shots with 8.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in 21.4 minutes across 24 games for San Diego State University.
He however missed out on the overall Defensive Player of the Year title to Utah State University Center Neemias Queta and a place in the Conference Team of the Year.
On the other hand, Mensah’s Head Coach and teammate Brian Dutcher and Matt Mitchell were named Conference Coach of the Year and Conference Player of the Year Awards respectively.
San Diego registered the top seed in the Conference for a second season in a row after winning 20 games and losing four in the regular season.
The team commences play in the Conference playoffs on Thursday, March 11.
