Mawugbe blocks shot during his time at Azusa Pacific

Basketballghana.com can report American born Ghanaian Power Forward/Center Selom Mawugbe scored 12 points for Santa Cruz Warriors in the team’s 121-91 win over Erie BayHawks in the NBA Gatorade League (G League). 2019 NBA Champion Jeremy Lin scored 22 points for the Warriors.

Santa Cruz is the G League affiliate of NBA team Golden State Warriors and this is Mawugbe’s debut run with the team after getting drafted in the G League Draft in November, 2020.

Mawugbe played 20:49 minutes off the bench in the contest between the top two teams in the G League this season and registered six rebounds, two blocks, two assists and a steal aside his points tally.

The 6 foot 10 inch player born to Ghanaian parents converted all five of his shot attempts to aid Warriors clinch its 10th win in 14 games. The team ranks second in the 18 team standings and is on course to compete in the playoffs.

Mawugbe ranks fifth in the league in blocks with an average of 2.2 across 10 games; he graduated with a degree in Biochemistry from Azusa Pacific University.
