Basketballghana.com can confirm Youth and Sports Minister Designate Mustapha Ussif will appear before the parliament vetting committee on Thursday, February 25.

He is in line to be the latest government official to be vetted this week after being picked by Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo to lead the affairs of the Ministry.

The former National Service Scheme Boss is widely expected to take over from Member of Parliament Isaac Asiamah as Youth and Sports Minister; Honourable Asiamah served as Minister in the first term of Akufo-Addo’s first term as President.

The Minister Designate doubles as Member of Parliament for Yagaba-Kubori Constituency in Ghana’s North East Region and is an Investment Analyst.

Honourable Ussif

He is likely to be asked questions on solutions pertaining to the disappointing results from Ghanaian athletes and teams across multiple sports disciplines. His financial background will come in handy regarding sports financing which has halted sports development particularly basketball in the country.

Ghana missed out on competing in the just ended qualifiers to the 2021 African Nations Basketball Championship (AfroBasket) due to be held in Kigali, Rwanda.
