Basketballghana.com gathers former Ghanaian-British International NBA player Pops Mensah-Bonsu has been named Director of Minor League Operations for NBA franchise New York Knicks.
Mensah-Bonsu was expected to take over as General Manager of Knicks affiliate side-Westchester Knicks- in the NBA’s minor League, the Gatorade League (G League) this season after leaving a similar role with Washington Wizards.
However, according to New York based Reporter Ian Begley, Mensah-Bonsu will serve as Director of Knicks Minor League Operations in a slew of moves including former player Allan Houston’s new role as Vice President-Player Leadership and Development.
Former NBA player, Houston, served as Westchester Knicks General Manager before the latest announcement of new roles.
Mensah-Bonsu has been replaced as General Manager of Capital City Go-Go by Amber Nichols thus making Nichols the second female General Manager of an NBA G League team.
Westchester Knicks is part of an 18 team roster to compete in the G League season scheduled to commence on February 10 inside the World Disney Complex in Florida.
Mensah-Bonsu played in the NBA for Toronto Raptors, Dallas Mavericks and then New Orleans Hornets and represented Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics.
