Basketballghana.com can report Ghana Olympic Committee President Ben Nunoo-Mensah has called on Youth and Sports Minister Designate Mustapha Ussif to invest in athletes.
He made this call during an interview on GTV Sports Plus earlier today as Honourable Ussif prepares to be vetted later this month; he is widely expected to be officially named Ghana’s Minister of Youth and Sports in the second term of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s term.
Speaking in the interview where he touched on multiple issues including the acquisition of land at Amasaman for the construction of sports facilities, he stated:
“We need to invest in our athletes and I’m looking forward to the Minister Designate to do that”; Honourable Ussif doubles as an investment banker.
Nunoo-Mensah is an avid Basketball fan and has been present for basketball events including the 2016 Ghana Basketball Awards and 2016 Sprite Ball Championship Finals.
Basketball is very popular among Ghana’s youth but the lack of investment in infrastructure has halted the rapid rise of the sport.
