Basketballghana.com gathers Nigeria’s Men’s Basketball Team will play out the final round of qualification games for the FIBA 2021 African Nations Basketball Championship (AfroBasket) without its top coaches.

Head Coach Mike Brown is set to miss the final three games of the qualification phase due to his work with NBA side Golden State Warriors.

Former Head Coach and present Assistant Coach Alex Nwora is also set to miss the qualification games due to his work at Erie Community College.

The final round of games is due to be played from February 17 to February 21 in Cameroon and Tunisia and Nigeria leads Group D and is widely expected to progress to the main competition despite the absence of Nwora and Brown.

D’Tigers lead Group D with maximum points from three wins in three games ahead of Mali, South Sudan and Rwanda. The 2015 African champions need to rank within the top three spots to qualify.

This year’s AfroBasket is to be played in Kigali, Rwanda.
