Basketballghana.com can report Nathan Mensah handled the altitude at Colorado Springs fine in his brief time on the court for San Diego State University.
The 6 foot 10 inch Ghanaian Center registered 13 points, seven rebounds and a steal in 16 minutes as a starter in San Diego’s 98-61 win over Air Force. He however committed four fouls and three turnovers.
The win is San Diego’s 10th of the season in 14 games this season and puts the Aztecs in fourth place in the 11 team Mountain West Conference standings.
Concerns were raised prior to the game about Mensah’s struggles in games played (twice against Utah State University) at altitude. He also had his 2019-2020 season cut short after 13 games due to a respiratory illness.
The game was played at the Clune Arena in Colorado at 7,081 feet above sea level and is the first of two games to be played between the two teams. The next game is on Sunday, January 25 at the same arena.
Mensah is averaging 10.4 points, 1.8 blocks and seven rebounds in 22.7 minutes this season.
