Basketballghana.com can confirm world renowned sports goods retailer Decathlon has been named an official NBA Licensee with Decathlon’s outlets all over the world set to provide NBA merchandise to fans.
Decathlon Ghana-a subsidiary of Decathlon- is a sponsor of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship; UPAC is Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition.
The partnership between Decathlon and the world’s biggest basketball league was agreed earlier today and is Decathlon’s first partnership with a North American sports league.
The deal is highlighted by a special brand named “TARMAK” of NBA “accessories, league-branded layers and footwear” designed by Decathlon. These products are to be available in Decathlon stores from April.
TARMAK Leader Damien Dezziter stated after the partnership announcement, “We have a common objective to develop basketball all over the world, so it’s natural to work together to make this possible” according to APO News.
Decathlon Ghana has two stores operating in Ghana and the second was recently opened at Kawukudi with French Ambassador to Ghana, Anne Sophia Ave, Jean-Yves le Drian, the French Foreign Minister to Ghana and Ghanaian legend Abedi Ayew ‘Pele’ in attendance.
Decathlon has sponsored the UPAC since 2019.
