Getting a revenge win over Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) was motivation for Radford University College Men’s Basketball Team.
This is according to Radford Guard Lawal Toying who starred in the team’s 58-46 win over KNUST in the final game to clinch the UPAC title.
The 2020 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship took place recently at the Tema Community 4 Court and had Radford win its first ever title thanks to the win.
In an exclusive interview with Ghana’s biggest basketball portal, Toyin indicated losing 32-47 in the preliminary stage was a motivating factor to get the over the Kumasi-based side.
“Kind of, it (revenge) was but its basketball anything can happen but we kept our head up that’s all. It was all hard work” he said.
Despite losing to KNUST, a win over Kings University College was enough to get Radford through to the semifinal where a shock 56-33 win over title favourite Takoradi Technical University (TTU) led Radford to the final.
