2020 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship Most Valuable Player Award winner Lawal Toyin has pointed to his Coaches and teammates as the reason behind his success at the recently held competition.
The two tournament held at the Tema Community 4 Court had Radford University College clinch the title via a 58-46 win over Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the final game.
Toyin was largely responsible for the comeback win as his timely drilled three point shots ensured Radford University scored late to seal the win.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com after the team win and individual win, Toyin was thankful to his coaches and teammates stating:
“I want to really really thank my coaches a lot they and my teammates, they have been the reason why I have been able to win an MVP”.
To clinch its first ever UPAC title, Radford beat tournament favourites KNUST and Takoradi Technical University and both wins were clinched in surprising fashion.
This was Radford’s third appearance in Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball tournament.
