One of the highlight moments of the recently held UPAC 2020 was Chiefs Basketball Academy emerge winners of the Skills Challenge competition. Chiefs walked away with certificates, souvenirs from sponsors MTN and CAL Bank and 500 Ghana Cedis.
The FIBA Skills Challenge was introduced to the itinerary on Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball competition to test players skills in executing tasks founded on facets of the sport.
Five players represented each team and it was Chiefs collection of talent that scored the highest cumulative marks after participants were drilled in free throw shooting, three point shooting and passing target. Two all female teams-Huskies State and School Basketball Academy- participated in the contest; Team Wolves ranked second.
The competition was held prior to the final round of games in the UPAC which had Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) battle Radford University College in the final.
Radford University emerged winners thanks to a 58-46 win with a come from behind win that thwarted KNUST’s title charge again. It is Radford’s debut title.
