So close yet so far is the apt way to describe Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Men’s Basketball Team when it comes to winning the UPAC Basketball title.

The team once again came close to lift the title but missed out after suffering a 46-58 loss to Radford University College in this year’s finals which was played out at the Tema Community 4 Court.

KNUST held the game’s lead through three quarters and had a 51-49 lead at the end of the third quarter but the Kumasi-based institution had a tough time scoring baskets and a hot shooting run from Radford Guard Lawal Toyin (who was later named Tournament MVP) had Radford take over and clinch the win.

This isn’t the first time KNUST has let a lead in the UPAC Final slip en route to lose the title; in 2015, KNUST led Accra Technical University by 12 points in the third quarter but ended up losing 40-53.

On the other hand, Radford clinched its first ever UPAC title thanks to the win.
