Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has topped Group B of the 2020 UPAC Basketball Championship following a close win over city rival.
KNUST beat Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) 41-40 in the final game on Day One of the special edition of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball tournament.
The tournament took place at the Tema Community 4 Court earlier today and the knockout stage takes place at the same place.

Clinton Oduro and Brandon Tettey led the KsTU effort that had the game’s lead change several times in an exciting contest that needed a big win for Kumasi Technical to force its way into qualification talk.

However, a controversial call had KNUST drain a late free throw and take the game’s lead and walk away with a hard fought victory. KsTU misses out on a place in the semifinals in successive years.
This means Radford University College qualifies alongside KNUST from Group B; Takoradi Technical University (TTU) and University of Professional Studies (UPSA) qualified from Group A.
