After a standout performance on both ends of the court in his team’s latest win in the US Men’s College Basketball 2020-2021 Season, Ghana Center Nathan Mensah has shed light on the factors behind his game leading performance.
Mensah’s San Diego State beat Saint Mary’s College of California 74-49 with the 6 foot 10 inch defender leading all players in scoring and blocked shots.
Nathan registered 18 points, 13 rebounds, an assist and six blocks in the contest as he continues to show little effect from a respiratory illness that shortened his 2019-2020 season to just 13 games.
Speaking in the post game conference, Mensah praised his teammates on the perimeter’s defense that allowed him to shine in rejecting shots.
“I think that our guards also being able to stay in front of their guy for a very long time made it much easier for me. If the guards contain the guys they are guarding, I’m just do ing the rest of the job. So that made it very easy. So I would say our guards played a good role in (my being able to block shots)” he said.
San Diego play again on January 2 against University of Nevavda-Las Vegas (UNLV).
