Ghanaian-Italian Small Forward Awudu Abass’ time at Virtus Bologna could end pretty soon despite the athletic swingman signing for the team this offseason.
The 27 year old who can Shooting Guard moved from Germani Brescia to Bologna and signed a two year deal before the start of the 2020-2021 season.
However, his minutes have been affected since making the move and veteran Italian teammate Marco Belinelli’s return to Italy after a 13 year run in the NBA only compounds the issue.
NBA Champion Belinelii announced his retirement from the NBA after playing for San Antonio Spurs, Charlotte Hornets and Philadelphia Sixers a few days back.
Belinelli and Abass played for Italy at the 2019 Basketball World Cup in China with Abass largely backing up the seasoned sharp shooter.
Abass spent two seasons with Brescia after winning the Serie A with Olimpia Milano; he has been absent in recent games due to COVID 19 self isolation protocols.
He has helped Bologna progress to the Round of 16 in the EuroCup.
