Basketballghana.com can confirm Ghanaian born French International Shooting Guard Yakuba Ouattara has given a call up to the French National Team.
The call up comes ahead of the team’s 2022 European Basketball Championship (EuroBasket) qualifiers to be played this weekend. France plays Great Britain and Germany on November 27 and November 29 respectively according to French outlet L’Equipe.
Ouattara joined up with the French team on Tuesday after a late call up after Mouhammadou Jaiteh tested positive for COVID 19 and had to be replaced.
Former Monaco Guard Ouattara was born in Tepa in Ghana’s Ashanti Region before moving to France and starring in the French League prior to his to Coosur Real Betis in the Spanish Endesa League this offseason.
He started and registered 13 points, an assists, a rebound and two steals in 25 minutes as a starter in Betis’ 89-96 loss to Bilbao Basket in the last round of league games.
The 28 year old 6 foot 3 inch Ouattara had a brief stint with the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets and its Gatorade League affiliate Long Island Nets.
He has played on 12 occasions for France.
