Basketballghana.com can report a new basketball court has been commissioned at the Dansoman SSNIT Flats in Ghana’s capital, Accra.
The facility was funded by Member of Parliament for the West Ablekuma Constituency Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and is part of her project to make the Accra suburb the headquarters of basketball in the West African country.
Speaking in the aftermath of the official commissioning of the court, Joe Nettey-representative of the Dansoman SSNIT Flat Basketball group, was delighted with the facility and added commissioning of the facility marked a “new turning point in Dansoman basketball and the court will carry the vision of the community.
Per reports gathered by Ghana’s leading Basketball portal, residents particularly the youth have yearned for such a facility for over three decades.
The construction of the new court increases the number of basketball courts in the Greater Accra Region and the country in general; inadequate facilities is a major issue that has affected the growth of the sport in Ghana.
An exhibition game involving several Dansoman-based players was played to celebrate the occasion.
