Basketballghana.com can confirm Malachi Flynn a former teammate of budding Ghanaian basketball star Nathan Mensah, has been drafted into the NBA.
The news was confirmed when Flynn was picked with the 29th overall pick in the Draft by Toronto Raptors; Flynn is the first San Diego State University player to be drafted in the first round of the draft since Kawhi Leonard went 15th overall in the 2011 Draft.
The 22 year old Point Guard was part of San Diego’s historic team that won 30 out of 32 games last season; he averaged 17.6 points, 5.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 32 games in his lone season with the Aztecs after transferring from Washington State.
Flynn played alongside Mensah who had his season cut short by a respiratory illness; the health issue meant Mensah could only play 13 games. Mensah averaged 6.8 points and 6.9 rebounds in those games.
He has been cleared to compete this season as the starting Center with San Diego playing University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) in the season opener on November 25.
