The Basketball Africa League (BAL) inaugural edition start date has been moved again due to recent complications with the ongoing fight against the COVID 19 pandemic.
Due to the latest development, players of direct Ghanaian descent scheduled to compete in the continental tournament have been affected.
Veteran Guard Alhaji Mohammed and veteran Forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning were signed to play for US Monastir of Tunisia and Egypt’s Zamalek respectively prior to the announcement.
The NBA-FIBA Africa competition was originally set to commence on March 13 but was expected to be played from December 5 to December 18 after a revised schedule; but the rise in COVID 19 cases means the date has been moved to a yet to be determined period.
Speaking exclusively to Ghana’s leading Basketball portal, American born Mohammed said, “my heart was ready to represent Africa and BAL”.
39 year old Guard Mohammed has played extensively across the Middle East and Europe while British born Bryan-Amaning recently signed for Worcester Wolves.
