Mfantsipim School Headmaster Reverend Ebenezer Aidoo has stated the gift from NBA star Kyrie Irving has come at the right time for the school.

He made the statement after receiving 12 pairs of sneakers from the Brooklyn Nets as a reward for topping the Boys Division at the 2019-2020 Sprite Ball Championship in January.

The NIKE Kyrie Five sneakers honoured a promise by Irving earlier this year to reward the best schools at Ghana’s biggest High School Basketball Championship.

Speaking at the brief ceremony, Reverend Aidoo was grateful to the 2016 NBA Champion and went ahead to applaud the timing of his gesture. The presentation was made prior to the official commissioning of a brand new basketball court at the school.

“We are grateful as a school for this gesture. This has come to at the right time because this afternoon we are going to receive a brand new basketball court so I think that it will motivate our boys to do well” he said.

The new basketball court was funded by the 1970, 1980, 1990 and 2000 Year Groups of Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA).
