Central Regional Minister of Ghana Kwamena Duncan has stated the construction of a new basketball court is the “embodiment of contribution” to the progress of Mfantsipim School.
He made this statement during the official commissioning of the court at the school over the weekend to mark the school’s 144th Year Anniversary celebrations.
The project was funded by the 1970, 1980, 1990 and 2000 Year Groups of the Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA) at a cost of $172,898. The court has washrooms, changing rooms and seating area for fans.
The Minister praised the efforts of the Year Groups and added, “this is the embodiment of contribution and progress to the course of Mfantsipim School. It is a token and the handiwork of the Year Groups”.
The court was constructed in little over two months with construction commencing on September 12 this year. The new facility will aid Mfantsipim’s preparation for competitions including the Sprite Ball Championship.
Mfantsipim has won Sprite Ball five times and competed in nine finals.
