Basketballghana.com can confirm Mfantsipim School’s newly constructed basketball court is to be officially opened on Friday, November 12.
The brand new edifice is to be unveiled as a marquee point of the school’s 144th anniversary which comes off this weekend at the school’s premises in Ghana’s Central Regional capital, Cape Coast.
The court Basketballghana.com gathers, is part of Mfantsipim’s scheme to have a grand sports infrastructure to support the school’s bid to dominate Ghana High School sports.
Reports also indicate members of the 1970, 1980, 1990 and 2000 Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA) Year Groups funded the construction of the new edifice; the project is projected to cost One Million Ghana Cedis ($172, 898).
Executives of the MOBA and invited dignitaries are expected to attend the program on Friday; the new court is to replace the existing playing surface and help Mfantsipim sustain its dominance in the sport.
Mfantsipim have emerged winners of Ghana’s biggest High School tournament-the Sprite Ball Championship-on five occasions.
The school is to be presented with NIKE Kyrie Five Sneakers for starring at the 2019-2020 Sprite Ball in January; the sneakers are a gift from NBA star Kyrie Irving.
