Basketballghana.com can confirm Asawasi Comets have emerged winners of the 2020 edition of the StreetBall at the Mall Basketball Tournament.
Comets beat Asafo Klicks 41-29 in the final game to win the fourth edition of the ClockWork Brand sponsored event in Ghana’s Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi. ClockWork Brand is a household name in sports apparel in Ghana.
The competition was held at the Kumasi City Mall in Kumasi with eight teams competing; the tournament had GSP Basketball League Champions Young Boys (based in Sunyani) feature as well.
A section of the Kumasi City Mall’s Car Park was converted to a court to host the two day tournament that was the first major basketball competition to take place after the ban on contact sports due to COVID 19 was lifted.
Comets take over as champions from Ayeduase Snipers who failed to defend their title with the likes of Dichemso Chiefs Basketball Academy and Health Ballers feature.
The competing field was made up of mostly teams in the Kumasi Basketball League including Patasi Invaders and Ejisu Razors.
