Basketballghana.com understands Wheelchair Basketball Player Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe has made history at the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards.
By winning the Personality of the Year Award on a glittering night this past weekend, Nkegbe became the first ever Male Para Athlete to win the most prestigious award on the night.
The SWAG Awards 45th edition headlined by telecommunications giant MTN, honoured a host of outstanding athletes from the West African nation.
Nkegbe’s win on Saturday, was his second award win in this year’s event after bagging the Para Athlete of the Year Award late in September.
The celebrated and versatile athlete has qualified to a fourth Olympic Games to compete in the wheelchair racing event.
He won gold medals at the Desert Challenge in the United States of America and the OCC Race in South Africa in the year under review.
By qualifying to the Tokyo Games next year, Nkegbe set a new national record of Olympic appearances with four appearances.
