Basketballghana.com can confirm WheelChair Basketball Player Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe has been nominated for the top prize at the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards.
The 45th edition of the prestigious awards is due to be held on Saturday, October 10 at the Swiss Spirit Alisa Hotel and is headlined by telecommunication giant MTN.
Nkegbe has been nominated in the Personality of the Year category alongside Boxer Richard Commey and Ghana’s 4×100 Relay Team.
Botsyo made the list after an outstanding year in wheel chair racing where he sealed qualification to next year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The celebrated athlete won gold at the Desert Challenge in the United Stated of America and won gold at the OCC Meet in South Africa in the year under review.
Should he emerge winner of the competitive category, it would mark Nkegbe’s second Award in this year’s event and he would be the first para athlete to do so. Earlier this month, Nkegbe won the Para Athlete of the Year Award.
