Basketballghana.com can confirm celebrated Wheelchair Basketball Player Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe was part of a group of disabled athletes recently received at the Accra City Hall by Accra Mayor Mohammed Adjei Sowah.
Nkegbe and select members of the Association of Sports for the Disabled (ASFOD) were present at the Hall to receive donations to help disabled athletes in the midst of the Corona Virus pandemic.
Promasidor Ghana Limited and Lakeside Estates Limited presented food items and 10,000 Ghana Cedis respectively to the Association at the event.
Mayor Adjei Sowah got involved in the philanthropic acts as he donated 50% of his August salary to ASFOD to help promote their activities.
Nkegbe’s feat of qualifying to his fourth Paralympics in Wheelchair racing was highlighted at the event; he is set to compete at the Tokyo Games which was originally scheduled to take place this year but got moved to 2021 due to the corona virus pandemic.
Nkegbe has won multiple trophies in wheelchair basketball including the National Unity Games held in 2017.
