Reports reaching Basketballghana.com indicate December is likely to be the month the maiden edition of the long awaited Basketball Africa League (BAL) commences.
The NBA-FIBA Africa competition was set to commence in March this year but the outbreak of the corona virus forced leaders to suspend the tournament indefinitely.
However, the number of infections on the African continent continues to drop and there are positive signs the tournament can begin.
Rwanda’s capital, Kigali has been tentatively tipped to host the competition in a different format that mirrors the NBA’s Bubble in Orlando.
Reports coming in suggest 12 competing teams in the BAL will play all games at the Kigali Arena in Rwanda over a two week period.
The suggested period runs from December 5 to December 22 unlike the original format that had games spread over a three month period with multiple cities on the continent hosting games.
Rwanda has one of the few cases of corona virus infections in Africa with a little over 4,000 with just 16 deaths.
