Basketballghana.com can confirm budding Ghanaian basketball player Joel Mensah is warming himself into the plans of James Madison University Men’s Basketball Team.
This was confirmed in the latest interview by Coach Mark Byington who is preparing for his debut run as Head Coach of The Dukes in the 2020-2021 season.
Speaking to news outlet winchesterstar, the first year James Madison University Coach’s attention has fallen on the 6 foot 10 inch Mensah.
“Joel (Mensah) wasn’t in great shape when he got here, but we’re finally starting to see what he can do” he said. Mensah transferred from San Diego State University to James Madison this offseason.
He spent two seasons at San Diego where he played with fellow Ghanaian Nathan Mensah who also stands 6 foot 10 inches is known for his athletic plays on defense and in the painted area on offense.
As the tallest player on the James Madison roster, Joel is expected to play a big role in his time under Byington after playing minor minutes off the bench in San Diego.
