Veteran Ghanaian Guard Alhaji Mohammed has sent a congratulatory message to US Monastir after the Tunisian captured its latest league title.
In an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com in the aftermath of Monastir’s fifth overall league title in the club’s history, Mohammed was full of praise for the team.
Mohammed signed for Monastir earlier this year to compete in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) but has had to wait for his debut game due to the suspension of the NBA-FIBA Africa competition.
The spread of COVID 19 forced leaders to suspend the BAL’s maiden season until further notice; 12 teams including Monastir will compete in the tournament.
“They have one of the best teams in Africa I already knew that would win. Amazing team and amazing players” Mohammed said in the interview.
Monastir recently beat close rival Etoile Sportive Rades in two straight games in the Finals to win a second league title in a row.
Born to a Ghanaian father in the US, Mohammed has played out his career extensively in Europe and was recently voted into French side Limoges’ Hall of Fame.
