Basketballghana.com can confirm celebrated Wheelchair Basketball Player and parathlete Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe has appeared before the COVID 19 Relief Fund vetting committee.
The vetting process ended late in July and the list of beneficiaries of the fund is expected to be announced in the coming days.
Nkegbe like a host of athletes have been affected by the outbreak of the corona virus and the fund has been together to ease the financial constraints of missing out on competing regularly.
A bevy of events across sports disciplines have been suspended or cancelled entirely because of the outbreak of the virus including the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Nkegbe has qualified to compete in the multisport competition’s wheelchair racing event in 2021 after the original date was moved as the search for a vaccine continues.
Should he successfully meet the criteria by the vetting committee, Nkegbe will earn 500 Cedis a month for six months; Nkegbe has participated in three previous paralympic games.
