Basketballghana.com can confirm Ghanaian-Italian International Basketball Player Awudu Abass is one of four signings for Virtus Bologna this offseason.
The 6 foot 6 inch Shooting Guard switched to Bologna after spending two seasons at Germani Brescia; the transfer comes after the 2019-2020 season was abruptly ended due to the corona virus outbreak with Italy being one of the worst affected nations in Europe.
Abass averaged 14.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in 20 games in the Italian League and averaged 12.3 points in 15 games in the EuroCup with Brescia prior to the move.
He joins Josh Adams who joined from Malaga, Amedeo Tessitori (from De Longhi Treviso) and Amar Alibegovic who joined from Virtus Rome as new players for Bologna. The quartet is set to make its debut once the 2020-2021 season commences reportedly in September.
Despite playing his entire professional career in Italy, Abass has featured in the NBA Summer League previously. In Italy he has suited up for Cantu and Olimpio Milano and won the league title in 2018.
He last featured for Italy at the 2019 World Cup.
