The fluid situation of financial relief packages to athletes in Ghana affected by the COVID 19 outbreak continues to highlight minor details in the Memorandum of Understanding agreed by Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and National Sports Authority (NSA).
Further investigations into the recently signed agreement shows basketball has been captured among federations to benefit from the Three Million Ghana Cedis Relief Package. This comes in light of the initial absence of basketball as a beneficiary in the immediate aftermath of the meeting.
Deep throat sources have revealed to Ghana’s biggest basketball portal that the Ghana Basketball Association (GBBA) has been included in the Federations captured in the relief package.
Earlier revelations from other Federations show athletes are to be paid 500 Ghana Cedis each month for the next six months to alleviate financial pressures during this period where the sports industry has been badly affected by the pandemic.
Further details on the disbursement of the funds by the GBBA are to be provided in the coming weeks as investigations continue.
