Basketballghana.com can confirm a pair of Ghanaian-Italians will man the backcourt for Virtus Bologna in the 2020-2021 Basketball season.
Awudu Abass and David Cournooh will feature on Bologna’s roster for the upcoming season after both players signed for the team recently.
Abass signed a three year deal after playing two seasons for Germani Brescia; Cournooh on the other hand, was retained by the club after a two year stint.
The two players will compete for a Bologna team that ranked first in the Serie A before the season got cancelled due to the corona virus outbreak.
Both players have direct links to the West African nation with Abass born to a Ghanaian father in Italy and have played for Italy at various levels.
Abass won the Under 20 European title in 2013 before moving to play for the Senior Men’s team at the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.
Cournooh represented Italy at the Under 20 level and Senior Men’s Team in 2016 at the Mediterranean Games held in Turkey.
