Basketballghana.com gathers economic challenges from the fallout of the corona virus pandemic has prevented Ghana born French International Yakuba Ouattara from moving to Spain this offseason.

The Shooting Guard was primed to leave French side Monaco to Spanish side Seville after helping Monaco to first place in the French Pro A before the league was cancelled due to the corona virus.

Ouattara averaged 11 points and 4.4 rebounds in 25.4 minutes in 25 games last season as Monaco ended the season with 21 wins and four losses.

The Monaco man was primed for a move to Spain but the heavy financial impact on sports in the country has prevented the move from taking place.

This was Ouattara’s third season with the team after a brief stint in the NBA’s Development League outfit Long Island Nets which is affiliated to Brooklyn Nets in the NBA.

Spain had endured harsh times during the Great Recession in 2008 and was on its way out of it before the virus that has claimed half a million lives worldwide at the time of writing hit the country.
