Basketballghana.com can confirm young Ghanaian Power Fowrad Yussif Basa-Ama has committed to play college basketball at Yale University.
The lanky player made his decision ahead of top programs in the United States of America after excelling since departing Ghana. Basa-Ama is 19 years old.
His commitment means he will suit up for the Bulldogs in the Ivy League in US Men’s College Basketball which is gearing towards resumption later this year after the postseason of the 2019-2020 season was cancelled due to the outbreak of the corona virus.
Aside Yale, the 6 foot 9 inch Basa-Ama was heavily recruited by some of the world’s most prestigious schools including Columbia University, Havard University and Rice University.
After playing out his High School career at St. Andrew’s School, in Boca Raton, Florida, Basa-Ama also attracted interest from intra state colleges such as Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida Atlantic and University of South Florida.
In his second and final season in High School, Basa-Ama averaged 15.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 2.6 assists per game.
He joins an intriguing crop of players including East Carolina University’s Derrick Quansah and Ebenezer Dowuona of North Carolina State University from the West African nation to feature in American colleges in the coming years.
