After backing his team to vanquish all before them in the upcoming Tema Community Basketball League season, Nungua Coldstore Basketball Club Manager Wendell Otoo has commended fast rising rival Spintex Knights for their input in what has been an exciting offseason.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com, Otoo who also bankrolls the team lauded Knights for their moves which has compelled other teams to make similar trades.
Otoo singled out Knights Manager Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi for his immense contribution to the team’s sharp rise and acknowledged these moves will improve the league’s competition and quality.
“I want to thank the organization of Spintex Knights for the various trades and adjustments they have done to their team and it is because of this that other teams have awaken and also doing a lot of trades” he said.
Knights made their debut in the league in 2019 and excelled with the team featuring in the finals; Spintex lost to Coldstore to miss out on the league title.
Looking forward to step up their game, Knights have made a flurry of signings this offseason by getting the signatures of Coach Thomas Amediku, Small Forward Muhaimin “Astro” Guba and Point Guard Joel Tham.
Tham helped Nungua sweep Spintex in last year’s finals en route to clinching the Most Valuable Player Award; Coldstore has won three of the four titles since the league started in 2016.
Tema Community 4 has signed three players with the likes of Tema Community 2 and Tema Rockets in line to make signings.
