After a lengthy courtship, Virtus Bologna has signed Ghanaian –Italian Awudu Abass after completing a deal for the former Germani Brescia player earlier today.
Abass was courted by Italian Serie A side Bologna, Khimki in Russia and Alba Berlin in Germany after impressing during his two year stint with Brescia.
In the past campaign, the 27 year old Small Forward/ Shooting Guard averaged 14 points and 4.4 rebounds helping Brescia place third in the standings before the league was suspended and eventually cancelled due to the corona virus pandemic.
Bologna on the other hand, led the league standings and preparing feverishly for the 2020-2021 league season due to commence in September.
Virtus is the fourth team Abass has played for in Italy after featuring for Cantu, Olimpia Milano and Brescia; he won multiple titles at Milano including two Italian Super Cups and the league title.
His consistent performances have seen him play for the national team including representing Italy at the 2019 Basketball World Cup in China.
Abass’ father is Ghanaian.
