Basketballghana.com can confirm Point Guard Joel Tham has moved from Nungua Coldstore to Spintex Knights Basketball Club in the Tema Community Basketball League.
The news broke over this past weekend mystifying many who saw Tham lead Nungua to beat Knights twice in two games and sweep the 2019 Finals Series to clinch its second title on the bounce and third in four years.
Tham was one of two signings Knights made to its 2020 roster; the team also signed Muhaimin “Astro” Guba not too long after.
On the flip side, 2019 Tema League Most Valuable Player Award winner Tham’s departure marks another offseason where Nungua has lost a key personality.
In the wake of Nungua’s failure to defend the title in 2017, Coach Ken Caesar left the team, Point Guard Sydney Larbie followed suit. The pair moved to Sakumono Titans.
Following the conclusion of the 2018 season, Guard Kontor Appiah moved to Spintex Knights and will team up with Tham for the upcoming season in Knights backcourt.
Aside losing Tham, fellow Guards Nana Owusu Afriyie and Emmanuel Wolff’s return to the team is up in the air.
