2019 Tema Community Basketball League Most Valuable Player Award winner Joel Tham has stated it was an “emotional struggle” for him to leave Nungua Coldstore Basketball Club.
Tham recently announced his exit from Coldstore to team up with fellow Tema League side Spintex Knights; the transfer was made official on Friday, June 5.
His move was a big shock considering he led Coldstore to beat Knights in the league finals; the title was Tham’s second with Coldstore.
However, in his statement, the Point Guard expressed how difficult it was for him to leave Nungua after a brilliant two year run.
“To be honest, it’s been an emotional struggle for me. After praying and thinking deeply about it, I didn’t think I’ll be at my best coming back to Nungua Coldstore” he said.
Tham joins an equally stacked team in Knights as the 2019 debutant boast a roster that has the likes of Elvis Pobi-Siaw, Emmanuel Ocquaye, Rashid Kuta and Kontor Appiah.
His transfer was quickly followed by Muhaimin “Astro” Guba’s move from Tema Community 4 to Knights.
