Basketballghana.com can confirm the Ghana Wheelchair Basketball Federation has received items to minimize the negative impact of the COVID 19 spread in Ghana.
The items were presented by the Rebecca Akufo-Addo Foundation to the Federation represented by President Max Varden and Federation Secretary General Agbesi Wilson.
Ghana’s leading basketball portal gathers the items were delivered within 48 hours after the Federation called on the foundation set up by Ghana’s First Lady.
Director of Operations of the Foundation, Akosua Newman, made the presentation that consisted of face masks, bags of rice, hand sanitizers, cleaning detergents among others.
The presentation was to aid the fight the corona virus and help disabled people cope with the tough conditions that have come about after the onset of the pandemic.
After getting assurance of support from the Foundation’s Director of Operations, Federation President Max Varden was appreciative of the gesture and General Secretary Wilson added
“Madam Director of operations kindly informed Mama Rebecca (Akufo-Addo) that we have accepted her lovely gift from our heart and we pray for good health, long live and more wisdom for her in all the days of her life and it is our hope, prayer and believe that she will adopt the federation as her own child and continue to support the Federation anything the need arises”.
This is the second philanthropic act the Federation has benefited following a similar donation by the Ghana Paralympic Committee; Ghana has over 8,000 cases of COVID 19 infection.
