Ghana Forward Joel Mensah has officially transferred from San Diego State University to James Madison University Men’s Basketball Team.
However, his status regarding eligibility to play this season is up in the air as transfer rules state a player in Mensah’s position has to sit out a full year before the individual can compete.
In the wake of changes to National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules amid the corona virus pandemic, the 21 year old Ghanaian could play for the Dukes this season.
The Power Forward left San Diego after spending two years with the Aztecs where he had a hard time getting extensive game minutes.
In 36 career games, he averaged 1.6 points and a rebound in six minutes but his stats didn’t deter James Madison Coach Mark Byington from showering praises on him.
Mensah stands 6 foot 10 inches and is known for his athleticism and defensive play; he played at San Diego alongside fellow Ghanaian Forward Nathan Mensah.
